Antonio Cappuccitti is a civil Engineer, Ph.D. and Urban Planner, senior Researcher in Urban Technique and Planning – tenured assistant Professor at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering.
He is Professor of the Courses of Urban Design and of Urban Planning and Technique (University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering). Member of the Ph.D Program in Infrastructures and Transportations; Supervisor to many Degree Thesis.
His main research fields are:
- Urban morphology, Rules and regulations for a good city form;
- Tools and procedures for an innovative Urban Planning and for an Urbanistica concertata (a co-ordinate Urban Planning based on Public-Private Partnerships).
He has worked since 1994 as an Engineer, Researcher and Planner in these fields, also collaborating in drawing up Urban Master Plans and Complex Programmes in several cities.
He is Scientific Director of the “Living the City” Laboratory (Laboratory for studies and experimental projects on urban settlements and public space, University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, DICEA Department).
As a Researcher, he has participated in more than 30 international, national and local Research Programmes, giving lectures in national and international conferences and seminaries, and is author of articles and books (more than 80), including Tessuti e centralità nella morfologia urbana di Roma and Strumenti, procedure valutative e itinerari gestionali per l’Urbanistica concertata (2006). With Elio Piroddi he edited the third volume of the Nuovo Manuale di Urbanistica. Lo stato della pianificazione urbana in Italia (Mancosu 2009) and wrote the book Urbanistica è Progetto di città (Maggioli 2012).
